The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) Reports Increased Use of Safer Gambling Tools in Europe
The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) recently released its Annual Activity Report for 2025, highlighting the organization’s accomplishments over the past year. One of the key highlights of the report was the increased utilization of safer gambling tools by consumers across Europe.
Expansion of Safer Gambling Initiatives
The report outlined the EGBA’s success in expanding its European Safer Gambling Week initiative, which now covers a record 26 countries. A total of 195 stakeholders participated in the initiative, reaching out to over 3 million customers. These additions have strengthened the association’s presence across 21 regulated European markets, with a total of 321 licenses under its umbrella.
Financial Performance
The EGBA also shared financial data reflecting the performance of its members’ online gaming operations. The report revealed a 15% growth in total iGaming GGR, with online operators generating EUR 13.5 billion in revenue in 2024. Notably, 51% of the revenue came from online casino games, while 41% stemmed from online sports betting. Poker and bingo contributed 4% and 2% respectively, while esports and virtual betting each held a 1% share of the GGR.
Overall, EGBA members accounted for approximately one-third of all online GGR in Europe. In 2024, these members processed 177.7 billion stakes, marking a 31% increase year-on-year. The total value of bets reached EUR 215.6 billion, showing an 11% surge from the previous year.

Maarten Haijer, the EGBA’s secretary general, expressed optimism about the association’s progress in 2024 and the upcoming year.
